How I research and fact-check

The Last Mile is only useful if you can trust the numbers in it. These are the rules every piece follows.

Primary sources first

When a company reports a number about itself, I link to the company’s own announcement where one exists. When a figure comes from a survey, I link to the publisher of the survey and name its sample size where it is given. Press coverage is used when it is the original report, or when a primary source is not public.

Every number is checked

Before a piece is published, each number, date and quote is checked against its source. If I cannot confirm a figure, it comes out. I would rather make a smaller claim I can back up than a bigger one I cannot.

A few sources, in the text

I link to the sources that matter most, in the sentence that uses them, so you can check the claim without hunting through a reference list.

Bias and conflicts are named

Much of the research in B2B marketing is published by companies that sell to marketers. When a study comes from a vendor, I say so. I also sell marketing consulting, and where that gives me a stake in a question, the piece says so too.

There are no paid placements, sponsored posts or affiliate links in The Last Mile. Company names and logos appear because I write about those companies. They are not clients, and their appearance does not imply any relationship or endorsement.

How I test AI answers

When a piece looks at what ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Google’s AI answers say, I run the same buyer-style questions in each assistant, signed out where possible, and record the date. AI answers change from day to day, so any result is a snapshot, and I describe it that way.

Tools I use

I use AI tools to help gather research and draft. Every claim is checked against its original source, and the analysis and opinions are my own.

Updates and corrections

Pieces built on fast-moving numbers are reviewed every quarter. When a post changes in a meaningful way, it shows an “Updated” date. If you spot an error, email anasunepruthvi@gmail.com and I will correct it.
